For this colaboration I rewrote the copy for the FNCCEC website, a project for the The First Nations Confederacy of Cultural Education Centres. This website rewrite was centered around renewing and enriching the content to better reflect the organization’s evolving mission and fit within a new design. This task was not only about refreshing the web copy but also about embedding the essence of inclusivity into every aspect of the content.

At the heart of this project was the challenge of balancing the organization’sobjectives with a respectful representation of Indigenous cultures. To achieve this, I worked closely with Indigenous language experts. This collaboration was essential in ensuring that the language, tone, and content were not only accurate but also resonant with the Indigenous communities the site serves. It was a process of learning and understanding, which then translated into writing that speaks authentically and inclusively.

The process involved a comprehensive overhaul of the existing web copy. This meant not just rewriting text but reimagining how the organization’s missions and goals are communicated to the audience. The new web copy was crafted to be engaging, informative, and, most importantly, reflective of the cultural values and perspectives of Indigenous peoples. It was about giving voice to a narrative that is often underrepresented, doing so in a way that honors and respects the richness of Indigenous cultures.
